Art, Religion and Renaissance

the last supper was and is always a great paintings of the high renaissance art in italy, but what made it even more appealing and interesting is the interpretation that was given to it by Leonaro Da Vinci. it represents a supper from the last days of Jesus when he annouced that he will be betrayed by one of his disciples. it was clear from this painting and from many others especially those of the high Italian renaissance period that the main source of inspiraton was the church,"to understand man was to understand him in relation with his creator".

Mirror Phase

As I saw this picture, I was thinking how clever are this mother or father!!!!!
They are very aware of the stage of development that their child is going through and are totally taking advantage of it by placing a mirror in front of their child in their car so that he can stay happy and peaceful while they are driving and at the same time they could keep an eye on him!!

voyeurism

As we see this image, we think directly of the old ways that we used to sneak so that we can keep watching people without being seeing or caught, this is voyeurism. As I showed this image to some members to my family, my little brother explained to me that this eye is looking at a naked body and that is why it is hiding behind the door because it doesn’t want to be caught. My mother said that this eye is being indiscrete and looking at something that is supposed to be forbidden. All these explanations tend towards the same concept; voyeurism :)

the gaze of young girls

while surfing through the internet and checking out the concepts that we have studied...i run through this image, it is mostly what was written about it that attracted it me the most...an investigator in 1913 called Mr. Coan that used to spy on visitors at the musuem art of Chicago, felt so offended by the "Immorality" of Matisse's paintings and thought of them as so provocative especially the one of nude dancers as it was attracting " the gaze of young girls". this insvestigator gathered around him people that were supporting him against such 'immoral art' and he also was caliming that encouraging love and giving woman to right will ruing the society...
i wonder what would he think if he was still living with us now..
